Blossomed in the very heart of the Rose Valley, our Château Copsa draws its knowledge and inspiration from the lands of the ancient Thracians, famous for their excellent wine. They believed in its divine origin and would celebrate the power of the elixir with mystical rituals and wild feasts in honour of god Dionysus. Meanwhile they turned into one of the best winemakers in Europe and their inheritance has been preserved through the centuries until today.

CHATEAU COPSA IS A FAMILY WINERY AND ESTATE RUN BY THE THIRD generation of the family Minkov. Château Copsa owns 60 hectares of vineyards, located in the very heart of the Rose Valley.

This wine microregion, tucked away between the southern slope of the Balkan Mountains and Sredna Gora, is extremely suitable for cultivating high quality white grape varieties.

The unsurpassed fragrance of the rose and lavender fields, the constant movement of air masses, the mild climate due to the two mountains surrounding the valley, all this contribute to the unique terroir of the region.

It was a great honour for Chateau Copsa to host a wine tasting dinner at restaurant La Cave on 6th of June for the jury of the BIWCF.

Masters of Wine, wine merchants, and wine journalists and bloggers from United Kingdom, Japan, Russia, India, the Scandinavian countries, Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands, were among our guests.

Three great masters of Wine – Count John Salvi, Beverly Tabbron, and Rod Smith were our specials guest at the event.

Indigenous Grape Variety – Red Misket

Despite its name, Red Misket is a white grape. This is an unique only for Bulgaria variety and finds its best expression at the foothills of Balkan mountain, in the heart of the Valley of Roses.

Our winemakers undertook the challenge to create a wine from Misket  grape that will show the very best characteristics of that indigenous  Bulgarian variety.

The selection started at the vineyard – a certain plot was selected, a special method of pruning was applied, as well as leaves removal and green harvest of the grape in order to achieve higher quality of fruit with exceptional characteristics.
